A letter to FIFA about our INDONESIAN SOCCER
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Perth,

THE FORMAL DECLARATION OF THE UNITED SUPPORTERS OF PSMS MEDAN with regard
to BADAN LIGA INDONESIA/ BLI’s (Indonesian League Organisation) and PERSATUAN
SEPAKBOLA SELURUH INDONESIA/ PSSI’s DECISION for HOLDING the INDONESIAN LEAGUE GRAND
FINAL 2007/2008 WITHOUT SPECTATORS
To whom it may concern,
In response to the decision of BLI/ PSSI to hold the
2007/2008 INDONESIAN LEAGUE GRAND FINAL (also known as the President Cup) without
spectators, we, the United Supporter of PSMS MEDAN (KAMPAK FC) and surrounding
sympathisers of Indonesian football declared that:
1. We believe such decision does not fill any criteria of
JUSTICE and FAIRNESS, injuring the meaning of FAIR PLAY and PREMATURE. We asked therefore, BLI/ PSSI to be
wise in handling such a problem, because that decision puts PSMS and SRIWIJAYA FC
who are not guilty by procedure as the wrongdoers and have to bear immense
consequences which are not supposed to. In this case, we have sent people,
supporters, coordinators from Medan with a load of expenses to watch the GRAND FINAL, which however, the right to
do so is denied by that controversial decision.
2. We believe that if such decision was to be made from the
beginning (i.e. the GRAND FINAL was to be held without spectators), we ask why
PSSI/BLI decided to move the venue from Gelora Bung Karno Jakarta Stadium to
the smaller Stadium of Si Jalak Harupat, Soreang. A GRAND FINAL should consist
of the highest prestige and celebration of the teams, supporters and sympathisers
involved.
3. We are saddened by PSSI/ BLI’s decision that discriminate
Sumateran teams and are frustrated that PSSI/BLI have been irresponsible to
hold the GRAND FINAL with reference that if there were to be an all-Javanese
teams’ final, PSSI/BLI would do their best to hold the final WITH SPECTATORS
and immense celebration.
4. We refused and dissatisfied with the decision to hold the
GRAND FINAL without spectators, as it will give negative impacts on the mind
and psychological aspects of the players of the teams involved in the success
of that stage.
5. We asked BLI/PSSI to be responsible for this decision, as
holding the GRAND FINAL without spectators will worsen the Indonesian soccer state
of affairs, emphasising the inconsistency and inability of PSSI/BLI in holding
a big event that of a national scale.
6. We therefore cannot guarantee what negative effects this
will flow from such a controversial decision. It is the responsibility of
PSSI/BLI to provide supporters who come to the venue with big screens around
the stadium because the decision makers are PSSI/BLI. To note, this is the
FIRST GRAND FINAL in the world without spectators!.
7. We therefore believe that with such a controversial
decision by PSSI/BLI, the GRAND FINAL has been set up to the highest bidder,
was under a conspiracy i.e. intervened with suspicious means. Therefore we ask
PSSI/BLI to hold the GRAND FINAL with SPECTATORS and conducted with A FAIR/
clear of any interests REFEREE.
This is our formal statement/ declaration of the United Supporter
of PSMS MEDAN (KAMPAK FC) and surrounding sympathisers of Indonesian football,
we hope PSSI/BLI can rethink of such controversial and shocking decision in a
wise and proportional way and we expect a respond to our statement.
Perth,
13 March 2008
In addition, we KAMPAK FC would like to file some complaints
with regard to the holding of the GRAND FINAL whereas it was found that:
1. The referee of the GRAND FINAL was Mr PURWANTO (Kediri)
who was in charge of THREE PREVIOUS games between PSMS MEDAN and SRIWIJAYA FC
i.e.:
1) Semi final COPA Indonesia Leg 2 at Jakabaring
Stadium, Palembang on 07 January 2008 which ended with a walkout from PSMS
MEDAN, three controversial goals for Sriwijaya FC and a score of 2-4 (2-0).
2) Quarter Finals or “the big eight” of the
President Cup 2007/2008 at
Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri on 18 January 2008 which ended with 1
(one)
controversial goal and 1 (one) controversial red card for PSMS MEDAN
with
a score of 2-2 (2-0).
3) The Grand Final of the President Cup 2007/2008
at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Soreang on 11 February 2008 which ended with 1 (one)
early controversial red card for PSMS MEDAN and a score of 1-3.
We believe that this referee had not been cleared of
conflict of interests, poor in quality and should be investigated for possible
bribery for the GRAND FINAL match fixing. Indeed we believe that the GRAND
FINAL was under a conspiracy of BLI/PSSI.
2. When BLI/PSSI decided to hold the GRAND FINAL without
spectators, there were hundreds of people who actually were allowed to watch
the game including people of higher ranks, security, wives, girlfriends and
family of the players. Indeed, there had been photocopied tickets sold at high
prices outside the stadium by the event organiser too.
3. We believe that soccer is the language of International
Fair Play and free of dirty politics. However, we believe that the GOVERNMENT
under the MINISTRY of ART and SPORT of Republic Indonesia has INTERVENED deeply
for the decision to move the GRAND FINAL to another Stadium which we consider
is a dogmatic, domineering, overbearing, authoritarian, and arrogant way of the
government to show its power on soccer. We emphasised that such intervention
should not apply to soccer as an independent, clear of politics intervention of
the people’s power on this sport.
4. We hope that FIFA as the highest formal organisation for
soccer in the world investigate thoroughly our complaints and provide a close
independent monitoring of the Indonesian League and give strong, appropriate
sanctions to Indonesian soccer higher ranks namely BLI and PSSI for a better
future of soccer in this country.
Thank you.
